The Beatles Penny Lane February 1967 single A side of Strawberry Fields Later released on the Magical Mystery Tour Album 1967 Penny Lane there is a barber showing photographs Of every head he's had the pleasure to have known And all the people that come and go Stop and say hello On the corner is a banker with a motorcar The little children laugh at him behind his back And the banker never wears a mac In the pouring rain... Very strange Penny Lane is in my ears and in my eyes There beneath the blue suburban skies I sit, and meanwhile back... My social media instructor has given me a wealth of knowledge for growing my potential with interactive media. My latest instruction piece has been to create music using GarageBand, a MAC product. From that point I transferred the file to an MP3 format using iTunes, transferred the song to SoundCloud and uploaded it to my blog.
This has given me several ideas in creating musical moments for my program INFORM heard Mondays on Bexley Public Radio, WCRX-LP 102.1. Hey, I feel so creative I am ready to explode upon the podcast scene. I recall in grade school the right side of my grade card there were attributes that a student needed to work upon each grading period. My continual improvement subject: TALK TOO MUCH. No harm now. I can talk all I want and get paid. Customer service is the bane of my existence. Please, Please, Me. On the other hand I am a Service Maven, committed to serving the needs of my public and continuously working to improve my skills set. I place high expectations upon the companies where I spend my money and will not compromise nor accept less. Sweetwater enters the scene.
I am a developing a career in voice artistry, I will perform children’s books, narration and telephony. Being competitive in a niche market means having equipment that is industry standard and the knowledge to pull it off. Enters David Mikautadze, Senior Sales Engineer. He hosted a voice artist teleconference which informed the listeners about audio equipment. David, listened to each caller attentively and answered each question with exacting detail. Amazingly, time was not an issue for David, his commitment was to serve every caller on the line. David extended himself beyond the call and provided his telephone number. I took advantage of the opportunity. David schooled me on how to build a home studio that would help me to accomplish my professional goals of becoming a voice artist and developing my talents as a sound developer. Wow, he spent 30 minutes with me on the telephone and I called several times to ask more questions. He compared products, explained the benefits and provided a student discount. Hey, that was boss, considering Sweetwater offers free shipping and handling! My gear arrived the next day. When the products arrived I was ecstatic. What could possibly rain on my parade? Well, let me tell you. I could not load the software, it was corrupt. My knight and shining armour to the rescue. Service Engineer, David Mikautadze. No problem, He contacts the technical team and they send out a new CD. He did not send me through the paces of twenty questions, I explained the circumstances and he corrected my concern. There are a lot of businesses that could take a few crib notes from Sweetwater’s playbook. Attention to detail, at Sweetwater service is truly paramount. Hey guys the candy in box is a sweet touch. P.S. While I am presently remodeling my home office to become my studio, I am unable to share the bling so check out some pictures of my audio equipment. I have read that music defines us and becomes the soundtrack of our lives. It is uncanny that music can create a déjà vu experience. The Beatles defined my life and continue to influence me today through music. I belonged to the Beatle’s Fan Club, I received loads of memorabilia. As a child I did not have personal relationships but I build one with the Beatles. It was always a rush to wait for the postman to deliver a package from England or to hear the latest Beatle release on the radio or catch a glimpse on TV. I was mesmerized. Today they captivate me by the thought process of writing; exploring life and learning about the unknown. I delve into their lyrics and define what each one means to me, personally; creating an introspective of my life. As a child we had dog named Newman he was named after my great grandfather Silas P. Newman who lived to be 103. Nice way to be immortalized. A man from the dog pound came to take Newman away. He said he would be a good country dog and was going to keep him. As I was looking down from my bedroom window sounds emitted from the record player. When I tuned in, I heard the words “the long and winding road that leads me to your door, will never disappear. I’ve seen that road before....” When I hear this song, I am transported to that exact moment of my separation from Newman. |
